Last year I chance upon a smoothie that  claims to help weight loss.  I wasn’t looking for a weight loss veggie recipe but I’m getting tired of using and cleaning my juicer.  A tedious thing to do without a household help, so I searched for some easy just mix-it-all in a blender concoction.  I found the glowing green smoothie by celebrity Kimberly Snyder.   I made some modifications though, depending on the availability of the  products in the local supermarket.

These past 2 weeks have been mostly meat and fried foods during meal time.  It’s so obvious that besides losing my healthy eating habits, I’m gaining a few pounds.  I decided to detox this week with a more veggie than meat snacks  and meals.  I’m done with the veggie burrito the kids love and I prepared the veggie salad which is good for a week.  If I wanted to be a vegetarian, I could easily do it but the kids won’t like it.  I sure won’t force my choice of diet on them.  I might be able to do it when they’re all grown up.

Just this morning, I had 2 glasses of Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie.  I made some variations on the recipe which suit my very busy morning schedule.  With the original recipe, you have to add some ingredients first, then blend them before adding another.  With my own version which I call it the “stack-it-all-up” preparation, I just slice and chop everything and load them all in the blender.  Still does the trick and perfect for busy moms.

A quick share of my own version of glowing green smoothie before I teach the kids.  Takes some getting used to but I’m sure vegan and non vegan will get the hang of it.  Even addicting!  Enjoy.

There you have it, my Filipino version of glowing green smoothie.  The optional ingredients like cilantro and parsley could also be found in our local supermarket.

It would be nice to hear from you…
