Day 2

Date:  June 25, 2014/Wednesday/11AM Philippine Time

Lesson 1:  Reading Lesson 1

I’m still at the five letters I taught her yesterday – c, o s, a, and t.  I don’t want to move on to the next page because she does not have the mastery of the letter sounds yet.  It was a good thing  she’s not complaining of boredom.

Lesson 2:  Writing small letter c

Since letter c is easy to write, she finished the first and second page of the writing book but not without any conflict.

Conflicts:

  1. She wants to stop before our time ends and I was a bit irritated.
  2. I asked her to finish so she could get out of the room and do whatever she wants to do next.  I’m thinking that though what we’re doing is homeschool, I have to instil discipline when it matters.  Often times, young children gives up not because they can’t but because they can get away with it.  And because I spend a lot of time with her, I know when she’s genuinely tired or just making excuses.
  3. Though hesitant and sad that she didn’t get her way, she obliged and finished writing her small letter c in no time.

Small letter c done in fifteen (15) minutes.

Lesson 3:  Counting one to ten (1-10)

Counting all by herself, she’s hesitant to count although she already knew how.  I have to count with her still.  I pretend not to notice how she’s changing the word three into tatlo ( the word three in Filipino) while she smiles mischievously.

Counting done in five (5) minutes.

Lesson 4:  Singing

We consulted YouTube with lively pre-school songs and we found the Super Simple Songs Channel to help us.

Our song for the day is “If You’re Happy”

I wasn’t able to track the time, we enjoyed the day that we had another singing session in the afternoon.

It would be nice to hear from you…
