Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:19-21
A very good friend shared to me recently how she realized who she is. She also discovered that she prefers a SIMPLE LIFE. She had a paradoxical experience. The more she was exposed to wealth and the luxurious way of living, the clearer it became to her. She realized she wants less of them.
She prefers connection over accumulation.
Meditating on her reflection… It would be so liberating indeed to be free from wants. To be a minimalist. To be content with what I have and to buy only what I need. Not because of lack, but because I DECIDED to.
To earn more, but to give more!
To want less, to connect more!
The thought sends a rush of FREEDOM in my heart of hearts.
To those individuals who have attained that level of freedom, I honor you. I honor my friend who is beautiful inside and out.
I pray that someday I will be able to reach that level of clarity.
Until then… I still want that nice shirt I saw in the store last month. (ha! ha!)

After all, I’m a work in progress.

It would be nice to hear from you…
